A self-hosted chat with cited web search, images, automatic long-form continuation and answer-quality grading.
What it does
- Grounded answers — with web search on, it rotates across several search engines and tags answers with source numbers like [1].
- Model choice — local models on the home server by default, picked automatically for each question.
- Long-form writing — very long texts start with an outline and then continue automatically to the end.
- Images — image requests are translated and drawn by a local image model.
- Connected to this site — this site’s Ask AI uses the same search and safety engine.
Safety
- When fetching pages it blocks private and internal addresses, and re-checks on every redirect.
- Personal data such as phone numbers and emails is removed before a query leaves the server.
- Text inside web pages is treated as data, never as instructions.
- Powerful features such as web crawling are available to the operator only.
Quality
Every answer is checked against rules (refusals, format, language, repetition, citations, …) the moment it finishes. Suspicious answers, 👎-rated answers and a random 20% are graded by a different model, and a nightly regression run feeds per-model scores into a dashboard.
